CAP’s August OST Champion, Malik Burton

Each month, the Colorado Afterschool Partnership (CAP) shines a spotlight on someone making a difference in the afterschool and summertime world! Nominees demonstrate outstanding work in developing, supporting, and promoting meaningful, high-quality out-of-school time programs to benefit Colorado children, youth, and families.

Congratulations to CAP’s August OST Champion Malik Burton!

Burton works at the Colorado Dream Foundation, based in Denver and serves as the Program Manager at the Z Place Opportunity Center’s Evie Dennis Campus. Malik has served the Northeast Denver community since September 2021, when he joined the Colorado Dream Foundation.

“Malik has an amazing approach with the youth and staff. His work has led to improvements in classroom instruction, increased academic rigor, and a positive site culture.”

- Dr. Fernando Branch

According to Branch, who nominated Burton, his collaborative approach with students and staff has led to consistent improvements throughout the campus and program.

During his time with the Colorado Dream Foundation, Burton has grown to love working with his team, stating that he believes that the collective strengths of his team creates an experience that youth enjoy while being pushed to learn and grow while also having fun.
